How Colored Pixels in LCD TVs Work

There is a light behind TV, and there are a large number of colored pixels glittering in the front of TV. What is happening then? How do those colored pixels work?


How pixels are switched off:

Light comes from the back to the front.
A horizontal polarizing filter lies before the light, and can hold back those light waves that do not vibrate horizontally, and give access to those that vibrate horizontally. 
The pixel is turned off by a transistor which turns on the current by means of liquid crystals. It can make the crystals get straightened. Then the light traveling through them will not get changed.

Light waves from liquid crystals vibrate horizontally. 

A vertical polarizing filter lies before liquid crystals, and can hold back those light waves that do not vibrate vertically, such as the light which vibrates horizontally . 
Under this circumstances, no light can travel to the screen, then this pixel is switched off.

How pixels are switched on:

The light behind the screen is bright.
The horizontal filter before the light holds back those light waves that do not vibrate horizontally, and give access to those that vibrate horizontally. 
The pixel is turned off by a transistor which turns on the current by means of liquid crystals. It can make the crystals get twisted, after which light waves are rotated by 90°.
Light waves in the liquid crystals that vibrate horizontally come from those that vibrate vertically.
The vertical filter lies before liquid crystals, and can hold back those light waves that do not vibrate vertically, and give access to the light that vibrates vertically from the liquid crystals.
Then the pixel is switched on, and its color comes from a red, blue, or green filter.
